Happy New Year from CAPCSD!

Dear CAPCSD Member,

As we embark on 2025, CAPCSD remains committed to advancing CSD education through collaboration, innovation, and inclusive excellence.

New Year, New Partnerships: CAPCSD's Vision for 2025 In a landmark meeting this December, CAPCSD's Board convened with NBASLH's Board in Seattle, marking our first joint board session. This collaboration represents a significant step toward our strategic goal of creating meaningful partnerships. Together, we're focused on eliminating barriers and developing pathways for historically underrepresented populations in speech-language pathology and audiology. Through this new partnership, we aim to strengthen the diversity of our professions.

Member programs are encouraged to share CAPCSD's NEW course for clinical educators/preceptors/supervisors called Key Principles in CSD Clinical Education, which was released November 1, 2024.

About the Key Principles in CSD Clinical Education course:

The education of audiologists and speech-language pathologists is dependent upon clinical instruction that is provided in an effective, evidence-based manner. This web-based course discusses a variety of key issues central to becoming an effective, evidence-based clinical educator/supervisor/preceptor. By completing the six modules in this course, learners will explore basic principles and obligations of clinical education. They will be introduced to evidence-based strategies for effective clinical instruction. Learners will examine the importance of effective communication, feedback and relationship building to the clinical education process. They will consider their obligation for ethical and culturally responsive engagement. Learners will have opportunities to reflect on how principles and techniques discussed in the course can be integrated into their own work in clinical education.

Access Information:

This valuable resource is provided at no cost to CAPCSD member programs and their affiliates. Access to the course is available with a link provided to all CAPCSD members when they log in to their membership account at the top of the Info Hub page.

We encourage member programs to share the link to this resource with individuals involved in the clinical instruction of graduate students, whether on-campus or off-campus. Disseminating course information can be done through email, email signatures, social media posts, learning management systems (LMS), newsletters, clinical tracking systems, or in-person meetings.
