Dear CAPCSD Member.

As I write this final newsletter as your President, summer has arrived with its promise of renewal, reflection, and well-deserved rest. Whether you're spending time with family, pursuing a passion project, or simply enjoying the slower pace that summer often brings to academic life, I hope you're finding moments of joy and restoration.

A Year of Connection and Growth
What an extraordinary year it has been for CAPCSD. From our record-breaking Atlanta conference with over 600 in-person attendees to the launch of innovative initiatives like our new supervision course and a landmark partnership with NBASLH, we have truly embodied our mission to "connect, inspire, and promote higher education programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders."

The challenges we've faced together—from navigating AI integration in education to addressing the evolving landscape of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in higher education—have only strengthened our resolve and our community bonds. Your engagement, whether through committee service, conference participation, or simply supporting one another through difficult times, has been the cornerstone of our success.

Honoring Departing Board Members

Before looking ahead, I want to express heartfelt gratitude to our exceptional board members who are completing their terms of service. These individuals have exemplified CAPCSD's core values through their commitment to excellence, visionary leadership, and collaborative spirit:

Rachel Theodore (Vice President of Admissions), Maya Clark (Vice President of Organizational Advancement), Kevin McNamara (Vice President of Clinical Education), Christie Needham (Secretary), Shubha Kashinath (Vice President of Research and Academic Affairs), and Jennifer Simpson (Past President).

Their contributions have elevated our standards, guided us through challenges and opportunities, and fostered meaningful partnerships that strengthen our entire community. The impact of their service will continue to shape CAPCSD for years to come.

Welcoming New Leadership

As we prepare for the upcoming transition on July 1st, I'm excited about the exceptional team that will guide CAPCSD into the new academic year. Tricia Montgomery will assume the presidency, bringing her wealth of experience from previous service as President-Elect and Vice President of Professional Development.

Please join me in welcoming our newly elected and appointed board members:
Christie Needham (President-Elect) from Baldwin Wallace University, Kelly Rutherford (Secretary) from Marshall University, Douglas Parham (VP of Admissions) from Wichita State University, Andy Clare (VP of Clinical Education) from George Washington University, Leslie Crusco-Grubler (VP of Organizational Advancement) from Lehman College, CUNY, and John McCarthy (VP of Research and Academic Affairs) from Ohio University.

This remarkable team brings diverse perspectives, extensive experience, and fresh energy to address the challenges and opportunities ahead. Together with our continuing board members who provide valuable continuity and institutional knowledge, their collaborative leadership will ensure CAPCSD continues to thrive and serve our community with excellence.

Looking Ahead

As you prepare for the upcoming academic year, remember that CAPCSD remains your partner in navigating whatever challenges and opportunities lie ahead. Our committees are actively working on new resources, our professional development offerings continue to expand, and our commitment to supporting you—whether you're a seasoned educator or new to our field—remains unwavering.

The strength of our community has never been more evident. When we connect our individual strengths, we create something remarkable that no single person or institution could achieve alone. This collaborative spirit will continue to be our greatest asset as we move forward.

A Personal Thank You

Serving as your President has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional career. Your trust, your engagement, and your dedication to excellence in CSD education have inspired me daily. As I prepare to transition to Immediate Past President, my commitment to our field and our organization remains as strong as ever. Thank you for allowing me to serve as your President. Thank you for your friendship, your professional excellence, and your unwavering commitment to our students and our field. The future of CAPCSD is bright because of each of you.

As you enjoy these summer months, please take time to celebrate your accomplishments from the past year. You've navigated unprecedented challenges with grace, adapted to new technologies and methodologies, and continued to prepare the next generation of speech-language pathologists and audiologists with dedication and excellence.

With deep gratitude and warmest summer wishes,

ACTION NEEDED!
Update CAPCSD Member Contact Information

To ensure the best possible service to its members, CAPCSD urgently requests that each member update their contact and demographic information. This is particularly crucial if you participate in any education sessions organized by CAPCSD and want your continuing education units (CEUs) to be reported to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Updating your information allows CAPCSD to accurately report your CEUs when you attend the annual conference or participate in a webinar. Additionally, it helps CAPCSD gain a better understanding of the composition of our membership, enabling us to tailor our services more effectively. Furthermore, it aids in planning future education programs and delivering targeted content that aligns with your professional needs.
