The spring semester is well underway for most of us, and many are deep into the admissions process. I find admissions to be a great time to think about the values of our programs and what students best meet those principles as we make decisions on who will be the leaders in CSD going forward. I hope all of you enjoy this process as much as I do and remember the importance of the April 15th deadline student acceptance. The CAPCSD Board continues to strive to do our best to support, promote, and advocate for all member programs. Be sure to check out many of CAPCSD's spring offerings this semester.
In warm regards, Jenny

We’ve had an exciting year of webinars and we look forward to more great opportunities in 2023!
This spring we are buttoning-up our Medicare series. These webinars are excellent for any clinic director – no matter how experienced. However, if you are a new clinic director, we encourage you to engage with these sessions. In order to make that easier, we offer them for purchase (without continuing education units). This will give programs a resource for onboarding any new clinic director and we encourage you to make that part of your process. Spring 2023 has many exciting offerings in the works. We are looking at issues related to DEI, reflective practice, and IPE/IPP. We plan to offer a leadership series starting late this spring (and into summer) for those of you who are interested in navigating your path to a leadership role in academia – or maybe you have found yourself there already. Finally, I wanted to let you know that my term with the Board is complete in June of 2023. I am thrilled to announce that Dr. Erin Lundblom will take over the role of Vice President for Online Professional Development beginning July 1, 2023. Erin has demonstrated extraordinary leadership in her role as the Online Professional Development Committee Chair and it is my pleasure to welcome her on behalf of the Board and our membership.

As always, we want to hear from you. We have created a one-question survey and are interested to know what areas we should explore for future webinars.

National April 15th Deadline for
Student Acceptance of Admission
|
As a professional organization that supports accessibility in CSD higher education, and to facilitate recruitment of students, CAPCSD endorses adherence to the April 15th deadline for programs that begin in the fall semester. This common deadline provides students with a consistent message so they can make decisions in a supportive environment. We all deal with the moving target of admissions vs. acceptances, which is compounded when programs insist that a student commit to an offer prior to the April 15th deadline. Consistent with CAPCSD core values, member programs collaborated to create the April 15th deadline as a solution-centered approach to the challenges of the annual admissions process. While the April 15th deadline is not a perfect solution, it does give students the best opportunity for completing the application process within a consistent framework and level playing field.
