DISCIPLINE Speech-Language Pathology

Utah State University’s Department of Communicative Disorders and Deaf Education (COMDDE) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor beginning January 2024 or August 2024 depending on the availability of the selected candidate.


The successful candidate will be a member of the Speech Language Pathology Clinical Education team supervising undergraduate and graduate students in clinical service delivery across the lifespan. While the focus area within speech-language pathology is open, candidates with expertise in working in settings focused on cognitive communication disorders and/or pediatric feeding disorders are particularly encouraged to apply.


The new clinical assistant professor will join a vital group of 44 faculty and staff in audiology, deaf education, and speech-language pathology. The position is located on USU’s main campus in Logan, Utah, a Carnegie-recognized R1 Institution of Higher Education. This position is not eligible for remote work. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track, nine-month, academic-year appointment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current (or eligible to hold) Utah State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Minimum of three years of experience as an SLP-CCC
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, counseling, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work independently
  • Ability to think strategically and recognize new opportunities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four or more years of clinical supervisory experience/experiences
  • Experience treating cognitive communication disorders, pediatric feeding disorders and/or transgender voice
  • Experience in a CAA-accredited academic program
  • Experience working with inter-professional initiatives in human service fields
  • Experience with SLP billing, tracking, and electronic medical record software
