Assistant Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University invites applications for a full-time, 10-month tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall of 2025. This is a full-time academic year position.
Position Description
The faculty member will:
- Develop, pursue, and maintain an active research agenda
- Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in communication sciences and disorders (2- 2 teaching load)
- Mentor and direct graduate student theses and dissertations, and undergraduate student research
- Contribute to the department, college, university, and professional service
Required Qualification
An earned Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the start of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Expertise in speech-language pathology or related areas
- Established or potential for collaboration across the department, college, and university
- Scholarship positioned to address the needs and challenges of urban communities, consistent with the mission of the university
- Experience in classroom teaching
- An ongoing record of scholarly work commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor
- Demonstrated a line of research with a strong potential for external funding

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders offers programs for master’s, Ph.D., Audiology Assistants, and an Audiology Specialty Certificate. The department has a robust reputation in teaching, research, scholarly achievement, and clinical training for a diverse student body. Faculty members engage in multidisciplinary research and interdisciplinary collaborations within the university, Atlanta community, and internationally. Additionally, faculty members have a history of external funding from the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Department of Education, and various private agencies and organizations.
