The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chair and Associate/Full Professor. This is a 12-month position beginning July 1, 2024. Successful applicants will possess an earned doctorate in communication sciences and disorders or a related field, current CCC-A or CCC-SLP, and eligibility for AR license to practice. Applicants must have a record of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment to a tenured rank.

Applicants should provide evidence of: excellent skills in communication and interpersonal relations; ability to work collaboratively with university and off-campus constituencies; visionary perspective of communication sciences and disorders and Interprofessional Education (IPE); and effective leadership.

The chair will provide effective leadership in areas related to personnel, budget, program development, and facilities, as well as encourage excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The chair reports to the Dean of the College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and has overall administrative responsibilities for the department.

The department includes undergraduate and master’s programs as well as an in-house clinic, the Speech-Language Hearing Center. The Master’s program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation. Currently, the department and clinic consist of 10 full-time faculty, 2 administrative specialists and several part-time adjunct faculty members. Typically, the department is home to 120 undergraduate and 70 graduate students. More department information can be found at: https://uca.edu/csd/.
