
CSD/SLP Program Faculty
Twelve-month Lecturer faculty position; emphasis on externship coordination for educational and medical placements, clinical education, and teaching; coordinate externships, provide clinical instruction, and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels as appropriate; opportunities for course release for research and service projects; ASHA dues, PSHA dues, and professional development funding provided by Thiel College.
The Externship Coordinator and Lecturer of Thiel College's BS-CSD/SLP program is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the CSD/SLP program's external clinical training model to support the provision of high-quality clinical education to undergraduate CSD students and graduate SLP students. The externship Coordinator & Lecturer functions in an independent manner with responsibility for making day-to-day administrative decisions and clinical education decisions concerning externship placements. Actions affecting intermediate or long-term programmatic functions are to be discussed with and approved by the MS-SLP Program Director before implementation.

The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders is well-established at Thiel College and offers a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology. The M.. in Speech-Language Pathology is currently in candidacy status. The department has state-of-the-art teaching facilities and a new on-campus clinic: Thiel Center for Speech-Language Services.
The Externship Coordinator & Lecturer would provide clinical instruction and teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate coursework as appropriate. Priority will be given to candidates with pediatric experience.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree in speech-language pathology is required with a Doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology, or a closely related discipline, preferred.; Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP); ability to obtain Pennsylvania professional license and PDE credential; a minimum of five years of clinical experience as a CCC-SLP and record of clinical supervision/mentorship; Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to ensure quality learning experiences for students and effective collaboration with clinical partners.
Examples of Duties:
- coordinate externship placements
- act as a liaison between Thiel College CSD/SLP Program and externship sites;
- collaborate and contribute as an active member to the BS-CSD/MS-SLP Program;
- prospect and recruit external placements and clinical contracts from the community;
- secure affiliation agreements for externships;
- manage affiliation agreements;
- carry a clinical caseload and supervise students;
- serve as the primary externship contact;
- report to the MS-SLP Program Director.
