Position Summary:
The Director of Clinical Education holds a faculty (academic or clinical) appointment and has administrative, teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. This individual demonstrates competence in clinical education, curriculum development, and teaching. In addition, the primary responsibilities of the Director of Clinical Education are to plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer, and monitor clinical activities on behalf of the academic program and in coordination with academic and clinical faculty.
The individual in this position serves as a liaison between the MS-SLP program and the clinical education site as part of his/her responsibilities. In cooperation with other academic faculty, the Director of Clinical Education establishes clinical education site and facility standards, selects and evaluates clinical education sites, and facilitates ongoing development of and communication with clinical education sites and faculty. The preference is that the candidate for this position be available for onsite work at the OBU campus, but the position is eligible for consideration of remote/hybrid work arrangements with the chosen Director of Clinical Education required to be onsite when students are at OBU for specified program tasks.
Qualifications:
1. Candidates should have a master’s degree or higher (clinical doctorate or terminal degree preferred).
2. Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Oklahoma.
3. Current ASHA certification as a CCC-SLP.
4. A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a clinical or academic faculty member in a CAA accredited MS-SLP program.
5. Applicable experience in clinical leadership (SLP program leadership experience and/or demonstrated successful leadership experience with the CAA accreditation process are preferred)
6. Knowledge of legislative, regulatory, legal, and practice issues affecting clinical education, students, and the profession of Speech-Language Pathology.
7. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.
8. Experience conducting clinical simulations preferred.
