
Elmhurst University - Assistant Professor
Job Summary
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Elmhurst University seeks a full-time (1.0 FTE) tenure-track assistant professor with expertise teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in neurology and graduate course in motor speech disorders, though all specialties will be considered. In addition to teaching, responsibilities for this position also include conducting research in areas of expertise, mentoring student research, and providing service to the department, university, and larger community. The faculty member may also supervise clinical practicum in the Elmhurst University Speech and Language Hearing Clinic (EUSLHC) as part of fulfilling teaching obligations.

Essential Functions
Demonstrate Clinic Essential Functions
Know and abide by the policies and procedures currently in existence in the Elmhurst EUSLHC
Write letters of recommendation for students applying for graduate school, asrequested by students
Attend department meetings and retreats and/or review minutes
Assume additional responsibilities, as determined by the needs of the EUSLHC and department, as negotiated with the department chair and clinic director (e.g., attending open houses, admissions committee)
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Remain a certified ASHA member in good standing
Maintain Illinois State licensure
Complete CEU requirements as required for ASHA certification and IL licensure
Complete ASHA clinical supervision requirement (2 hours minimum in supervision)
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or other closely related field
Certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Illinois state licensure
Ability to work well with students
Ability to work well as a team member with department members
Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent professional writing skills
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
High degree of flexibility
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Employee is subject to indoor work, protected from weather conditions. Work issedentary in nature and involves exerting up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or anegligible amount of force frequently/constantly in order to lift, carry, push, pull orotherwise move object.

The undergraduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders was founded in1946. The Master of Science (M.S.) program in speech-language pathology through the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Elmhurst University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The program is accredited through June 30, 2030. The CSD department consists of stellar professionals who collaborate on graduate and undergraduate degree programs with excellent student outcomes. The program is known for its exceptional clinical training, excellence in teaching, faculty-student research and Multicultural/Multilingual Emphasis in the graduate program. The department is located in a newer building and houses the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, Voice and Swallowing Center, and access to the 4,600-square-foot, state-of-the-art Elmhurst University Simulation Center located at nearby Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. The CSD department is part of the newly structured School of Health Sciences including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology and Public Health. A new 22 million dollar building to house these programs and foster interprofessional collaboration is has broken ground in October 2023.
