The School of Health Professions at UT Health San Antonio is seeking to fill one faculty position immediately to support a Master’s degree program in Speech-Language Pathology with a medical concentration.


Position: A 12-month, tenure-track appointment at assistant-, associate-, or full-professor rank.

Date of Appointment: As early as September 2023.

Background: The School of Health Professions at UT Health- San Antonio offers the Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MS- SLP) that is grounded on the integration of academic coursework and clinical experience with an emphasis on medical speech-language pathology. The vision of the two-year (5 semesters) program is to train and educate future medical speech-language pathologists to be exceptional critical thinkers, research-driven clinicians using the best practices, and strong leaders in the diverse communities they serve. The program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB). Qualifications: A Ph.D. in speech-language pathology and ASHA CCC-SLP, eligible for speech-language pathology licensure in Texas, and a record of research and scholarship.


Preferred Qualifications: Individuals with one or more specialties, including but not limited to developmental language disorders, AAC, fluency disorders, resonance disorders (e.g., craniofacial anomalies), head and neck cancer, voice disorders, dementia; an established record of peer-reviewed publications and research grant funding; prior experience in teaching at the graduate level.


Responsibilities: Teaching graduate-level courses in the expertise area, directing student research, establishing or continuing a program of extramurally funded clinical research, and providing services to the department, college, and community.


Salary: Highly competitive and commensurate with professional experience and qualifications.
