The Pediatric Audiology and Language Lab in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Iowa has an outstanding opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Scholar. This position is linked to an NIH-funded project awarded to Drs. Elizabeth Walker and Kristi Hendrickson. This project investigates longitudinal reading and language outcomes in adolescents with and without hearing loss. The postdoctoral researcher will take a leading role in designing and conducting experimental work examining real-time language and reading comprehension. Further, they will have the opportunity to collaborate with several other professors in the CSD department. The position is available starting October 2024 (start date flexible) and is for an initial period of one year with potential extension for additional years.

Required qualifications:

  • A PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Linguistics, Psychology, Cognitive Science or a related field.
  • Experience and an interest in experimental and/or translational research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research
  • Good statistical skills

Desirable qualifications:

  • Proficient in a programming language (e.g., R, Matlab, Python, etc.)
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting eye-tracking data
