The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CDIS) within the College of Arts and Sciences at Oklahoma State University seeks to fill a Teaching Assistant Professor position to begin in August 2024. Candidates must hold (or be ABD) a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field. Candidates should be able to teach three to four courses per semester. Candidates should also possess teaching experience at the college/university level either as a faculty or during the doctoral program. Specific courses can be negotiated with the candidate but we are interested in candidates who can integrate clinical skills to theoretical background.
About the Department
The CDIS department is one of the 24 departments in the College of Arts and Sciences. In line with the college's mission, CDIS aims to offer top-tier education and evidence-based clinical services for individuals with communication disorders. The Department has seven full-time tenure-track faculty, and four full-time clinical faculty, and as two adjunct clinical faculty. The department’s clinic operates year-round and serves over 300 clients with speech and language disorders who come from Stillwater and the surrounding area.. The department has a diverse student body that includes about 250 undergraduate students and 70 graduate students. We offer B.S. and M.S. degrees along with a minor and a certificate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The B.S. program prepares students for our graduate program in Speech-Language Pathology or work as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant after completing requirements. Our master's program is the entry point to the profession and is focused on training students to handle various communication disorders. Over recent years, we've attracted diverse graduate students across the USA with outstanding completion, employment, and Praxis exam pass rates.
OSU's main campus is in Stillwater, OK, an environmentally clean, safe, pleasant city of 50,000 located in north central Oklahoma, approximately 70 miles from Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Stillwater public schools are frequently rated among the best in Oklahoma, and the city has excellent affordable housing.
