About the Position

The Administrative Assistant of the Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) program supports the administrative aspects of the SLP program to include general program support, including clerical duties (typing office reports, making copies, corresponding with faculty and students, and can include assisting faculty with manuscript presentation and writing.  The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Program Manager to provide day-to-day management of the SLP program. Working collaboratively with the Program Manager of Speech Language Pathology and the Program Director for Speech Language Pathology the Administrative Assistant will help with development and oversight of administrative functions promoting the mission and goals of the SLP program, ensuring a superior experience for DelVal students in accordance with CAA standards. 

Reporting to the Founding Director of the Speech and Language Pathology program, this is a 12-month, part-time staff position. 

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Manage front-office functions and reception: greet and assist students, prospective students, guest lecturers, and other visitors; answer and direct phone calls; maintain office and program supplies
  • Maintain program-specific website and social media content
  • Take minutes at all program meetings 
  • Proctor student exams
  • Review admission applications for completeness and maintain records of student acceptances and deposits
  • Oversee planning and coordination of admissions interviews, program orientation, recognition ceremony, and other special events
  • Prepare, review, and track required clearances for incoming students
  • Register students with relevant constituent organizations as needed
  • Update alumni records and database 
  • Complete graduate credentialing and education verification forms as appropriate
  • Clerical duties: writing, copying, correspondence with potential students and current students including social media updates and phone calls
  • Performs other related duties as assigned in support of the Program Director and team

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Minimum High School Diploma; Associate's Degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years' administrative experience, preferably in an academic setting

  • Competence and ability to develop requisite knowledge of computers, technology and software (or similar products/programs) to perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to collaborate with students, staff, and faculty within/out the department

Physical demands and working conditions for this position include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Typically standing or walking
  • Potential local travel (within ~90 miles) to prospective or established SCPE locations
