Position Summary

Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success.  West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders invites applicants for the tenure-track position of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders.  This nine-month position (with potential summer session instructional opportunities) is available as of Fall Semester 2020 or until the position is filled.


Responsibilities

The faculty member will teach undergraduate (B.A.), pre-graduate (Certificate), and graduate (M.A.) courses; advise students in the B.A., Pre-Graduate Certificate, and M.A. curricula; demonstrate scholarly productivity by way of presentations, publications, internal and external grants, consultations, and other relevant accomplishments; participate in university and professional service endeavors; and incorporate technology into the classroom and the clinic. Assignments may include opportunities for teaching at off-campus sites and/or through distance learning, as well as supervising student clinicians in on-campus and off-campus clinical practica should the faculty member possess the appropriate clinical credentials.


Minimum Qualifications 

Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a closely related discipline.  In the absence of the doctorate, the receipt date for the degree must be no later than December 31, 2020 for the faculty position.  Applicants must also provide evidence of excellence or the potential for excellence in the responsibilities delineated above. In addition, applicants must demonstrate experience and expertise in one or more of these areas:  Speech Science, Hearing Science, Cognitive Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Neurology, and/or Linguistics (particularly Phonetics). 


Preferred Qualifications

Our department strongly prefers applicants who possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA and who meet the requirements for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  We also welcome applications from those with dual ASHA certification in both Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and who meet the requirements for licensure in both areas.  We also welcome collegiality and creativity and offer considerable support and mentorship.
