Delaware Valley University is accepting candidates for Assistant/Associate Professor in our new graduate level Speech Language Pathology program, which begins Fall 2022.

About the Position

This position reports to the Founding Director of the Speech and Language Pathology program and teaches a full-time schedule of courses in the program, participates in program development and assessment, serves on departmental and college-wide committees and other arenas of institutional service, maintains an ongoing professional presence, and engages in research programs and projects. The incumbent also provides support to efforts related to the initial accreditation of the program, as well as program implementation, assessment, and evaluation.

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, manage and mentor the student worker staff
  • Serve on department, school-wide and institution-wide committees, ad hoc task forces, workgroups student recruitment events, etc.
  • Participate in curricular design, course and program review, assessment and evaluation
  • Teach and/or presenting professionally (in-service, research or other)
  • Promote the program internally and externally
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Holds a master's degree in speech-language pathology, audiology or a similar related degree; doctoral degree preferred in speech-language pathology, audiology, or in speech, language, and hearing science, communication science disorders or related field
  • Administrative and/or management experience in an academic or clinical setting
  • Holds a CCC-SLP or CCC-A to practice in Pennsylvania preferred

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Knowledge and expertise in the clinical and emerging practice areas of SLP
  • Knowledge of the accreditation process
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate as a team member
  • Excellent rapport and network-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Competence and ability to develop requisite knowledge of computers, technology and software (or similar products/programs) to perform assigned tasks
  • Ability to collaborate with students, staff, and faculty within/out the department
  • Demonstrated interest in interprofessional education, leadership development, public health and practice

Physical demands and working conditions for this position include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Typically standing or walking
  • Potential local travel (within ~90 miles) to prospective or established clinical rotation locations
  • Valid driver's license
