The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is seeking a full-time tenure-track audiologist with a research doctoral degree to join our faculty. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in audiology and aural rehabilitation, supervise graduate students in audiology practicum, conduct research in their area(s) of interest, and provide service to the department, university and profession. The department is in the process of developing a clinical doctoral program in audiology; the successful candidate will be actively involved in the initiation of this program. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is in a transitionary period as it moves toward R1 research institution status. In addition to the Au.D. program, the department plans to develop a research doctoral (Ph.D.) program in speech-language pathology. Individuals who thrive on positive change especially will be attracted to this position. With an established medical school on campus, the successful candidate also will have the opportunity to develop professional and research relationships with medical school faculty. A research doctoral degree in audiology is required. The successful candidate must be currently certified in audiology (CCC-A) and be eligible for Texas state licensure in audiology. The candidate must have a record of successful research, grant application history and graduate student training. In addition, the candidate must be knowledgeable about the full scope of audiology practice and be able to impart that knowledge to undergraduate and graduate students. Preference will be given to research-focused applicants with grant funding in place or currently working on a grant and a record of professional experience in the field of audiology. The ability to teach courses in research methods and speech and hearing science is a plus but not a requirement for consideration. Anticipated start date is August 15, 2023.
