The Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences at Saint Louis University seeks applicants for a full-time, tenure-track ASSISTANT or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR starting August 2023. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
- A Ph.D. in speech-language pathology or related area. ABD will be considered, if finished by first semester of employment
- Successful classroom teaching experience
- A record of research and scholarly accomplishments
- Expertise in acquired neurogenic communication disorders
- ASHA certification and ability to obtain MO licensure
Responsibilities: This 9-month position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, maintaining an active research agenda, mentoring student research, advising students, and participating in service.
Department: The Department offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences. A dedicated clinical faculty provides clinical instruction and supervision, guided by a mission of person-centered and culturally-competent care. In 2015, a million-dollar renovation doubled the Department area, with upgraded clinic, lab, and research spaces. Technology upgrades include audio/visual recording capabilities in the clinic, new audiology booths, and electronic medical record keeping. The size of both the undergraduate and graduate programs is increasing, with about 40 new students joining each year’s graduate cohort.
College: The Doisy College of Health Sciences (DCHS) has provided students with the tools and education to become well prepared health care professionals since its founding in 1929. DCHS includes the departments of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences, Clinical Health Sciences (including Physician Assistant), Nutrition and Dietetics, Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy and Athletic Training.
