PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS We are searching for a faculty member with a teaching emphasis in acquired communication disorders and the potential to fill program needs. Clinical experience with adult and medically-based populations. Interest and experience in clinical instruction and supervision with the potential to assume role of Clinic Director. Demonstrated potential for scholarship and teaching excellence are expected. 

RESPONSIBILITIES This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, clinical instruction, scholarship (dissemination, grants, etc.), and service (student advising, etc.). The program utilizes a teacher-scholar model in which teaching is emphasized and professional growth and achievement, including research, is required. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., SLPD) in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology). Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2021. Applicant must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)-SLP and be immediately eligible for California licensure. A commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds is also required. 

THE DEPARTMENT The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program is in the Department of Communication Arts and Sciences, which is one of six departments in the College of Communication and Education. ASHA’s Council on Academic Accreditation accredits the graduate program. There are five tenure/tenure track as well as several part-time faculty for approximately 150 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The program’s emphasis is primarily directed toward producing the finest clinicians of speech-language pathology. Over the past decade, one hundred percent of our students have achieved job placement in the field.
