Assistant Professor- IL- Speech Language Pathology
The College of Health Sciences at Midwestern University - Downers Grove Campus, invites applications for a full-time (12 months) open rank tenure-track academic faculty position in the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Program. All qualified applicants will be considered while preference will be given to candidates with scholarly expertise in motor speech disorders and/or dysphagia.
Responsibilities for the position include teaching, scholarship, and service. Teaching responsibilities include designing and directing graduate courses in the SLP program and possibly engaging in clinical education at the Midwestern University Speech-Language Institute. Scholarship responsibilities include establishing/continuing and maintaining a programmatic line of research. Research start-up funding may be available in addition to access to instrumentation for Electroencephalogram (EEG), Videostroboscopy, acoustic and aerodynamic speech measures. Service responsibilities include membership on program, college, and university committees, assisting with the student recruitment and admissions process, contributing to the preparation of program self-study and accreditation documents, professional role-modeling, and participating actively in the professional activities of state and national organizations.
Applicants must hold a research doctorate in speech-language pathology, speech-language and hearing sciences, communication sciences and disorders or a related discipline with certification in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-SLP). ABD candidates will be considered; however, degree should be obtained prior to start date. Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in teaching and scholarship and must hold or be eligible for SLP licensure in Illinois. Rank is open and dependent upon qualifications.
