University Description

Our Lady of the Lake University is a nationally ranked private, non-profit, small, Catholic university with a deep connection to the history and community of San Antonio, Texas.  Founded in 1895 by the Congregation of Divine Providence, we have developed a reputation for our personal teaching style and expertise in Mexican American culture. We are also famous for our beautiful lakeside campus, which mixes historic buildings with a contemporary library, residence halls and technology infrastructure.


Woolfolk School Description

The Woolfolk School of Communication Sciences and Disorders is housed within the College of Professional Studies and includes the Harry Jersig Speech-Language-Hearing Center. The Center offers diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults for a variety of communication and swallowing disorders, and includes labs in child language, multicultural diversity, and voice & swallowing. The School consists of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders Program, a Communication Sciences and Disorders Post Baccalaureate Leveling Program, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders Program and a soon to open Clinical Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology Doctorate (SLP.D.) program.


The Woolfolk School was founded in the late 1950’s and is proud of its’ long history of providing the highest quality, individualized training of speech-language pathologists throughout San Antonio, Texas and the United States. We are particularly proud of our pioneering training in bilingual and multi-cultural services. OLLU is a leader in training bilingual speech-language pathologists and our curriculum pays special attention to cultural competence and humility.


Position Description

The Woolfolk School of Communication Sciences and Disorders seeks a full-time 9-month tenure track faculty member in speech-language pathology. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, supervising theses at the master's level and participating in our new clinical doctorate program in speech-language pathology. The applicant will also be responsible for teaching our graduate courses in the Cultural-Linguistic Diversity/Bilingual Certificate program and infusing innovation and growth into this well-respected program. Lastly, responsibilities will include conducting research in the applicant’s area of interest; clinical supervision; student advisement; and involvement in school, college and university committees. The position will begin in August 2022.


Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have obtained a Ph.D./Ed.D. degree in communication sciences and disorders or a related field. ABD candidates for Ph.D./Ed.D. will be considered. The selected candidate must be able to obtain TX licensure for speech-language pathology and hold ASHA certification in speech-language pathology.
