Assistant Professor (Tenure Track), Communication Sciences and Disorders – Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois, invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Department beginning August 2022.
Augustana College is a selective private liberal arts and sciences college of approximately 2,500 students, including 26 percent first generation college students, 23 percent Pell Grant students, 24 percent students of color, and 12 percent international students. Our beautifully wooded and largely residential campus is located in Rock Island, IL, a diverse Illinois-Iowa quad Cities metropolitan area along the Mississippi River with 400,000 residents about three hours west of Chicago. The position includes graduate and undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and campus service responsibilities. Preference will be given to candidates who hold a doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field by the time of employment. Candidates with a variety of expertise areas are encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to individuals with a background in child speech sound disorders. Candidates will be evaluated on their potential for teaching excellence; commitment to clinically-focused graduate and undergraduate teaching; potential to engage undergraduate and graduate students in an active research agenda; and commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. The Augustana CSD Department has a well-established undergraduate program and a new graduate program. The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology at Augustana College is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700. Candidacy is a “preaccreditation” status with the CAA, awarded to developing or emerging programs for a maximum period of 5 years.
