Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology
The Hearing and Speech Department at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks candidates for a tenure-track position in Speech-Language Pathology/Speech or Language Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. The position is expected to begin as early as August 2020.
The University of Kansas Medical Center is a major comprehensive research and teaching center with numerous centers, and institutes, including the Hogland Brain Imaging Center, the Alzheimer’s Disease Center, the Cancer Institute, and the Center for Aging. These centers offer numerous resources including subject recruitment, funding, and research design. The medical center includes the Schools of Health Professions, Medicine, and Nursing, which together enroll about 2500 students. The newly-completed 171,000 square foot Health Education Building provides functional spaces to support meaningful connections and interprofessional collaboration with advanced technology classrooms and state-of-the-art clinical and simulation labs.
The successful candidate will be expected to (1) develop an extramurally funded research program in their area of expertise and to regularly disseminate findings in peer-reviewed publications and presentations, (2) teach graduate courses in the Speech-Language Pathology M.A., clinical doctorate (SLP.D.), and Ph.D. degree programs in the Department of Hearing and Speech, which is part of the University of Kansas’ nationally ranked Intercampus Program in Communicative Disorders, (3) advise and mentor graduate students, including M.A. theses, Ph.D. dissertations, and SLP.D. capstone research projects, and (4) provide service to the department, school, university, and discipline at a level commensurate with their rank.
