The Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology within the College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center – Knoxville campus seeks applicants for a full-time (12-month) clinical faculty member in Audiology, open rank non-tenure track. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience. If the applicant meets the preferred qualifications, appointment to the Director of Clinical Education in Audiology will be considered at the time of hiring. This position reports directly to the Chair of the Department. Preferred start date is January 1, 2023. Responsibilities may be divided among the areas of administration, teaching, scholarship/research, and service. Specific duties may include:


Administrative (Director of Clinical Education in Audiology)

• Oversee clinical education to ensure the program meets all CAA standards for accreditation and all ASHA certification standards

• Oversee day-to-day clinical administrative operations

• Work in consultation with and advocate for clinical faculty in audiology

• Partner with the department’s business manager and front-office clinical staff to track clinical revenue and monitor clinical productivity

• Work with the department chair, developmental office, and practice liaison to build and market specialty clinics, secure contracts with product manufacturers, and obtain funding for clinical needs.

• Document student clinical hours and progress toward meeting CAA and KASA competencies

• Oversee coordination and scheduling of on- and off-campus clinical rotations.


Teaching:

• Provide direct clinical supervision of students

• Serve as the Instructor of Record for on- and off-campus practicums

• Provide classroom instruction for clinical education series

• Serve as a mentor for audiology graduate students working to complete their capstone research projects


Research:

• Engage in scholarship activities including presentation of research at conferences and publishing articles in area of expertise

• Collaborate with other clinical faculty and academic faculty to promote research goals of department
