The Department of Hearing & Speech Sciences invites applications for a half-time time (50% FTE; 9 months + 6-week summer session) Assistant Clinical Professor position beginning Spring 2022.

Position
Primary responsibility involves clinical education of graduate students engaged in speech-language pathology practicum. The position includes opportunities for teaching courses within the Department and collaboration with research/clinical faculty. Clinical faculty members are expected to participate in departmental activities, including committee service, and demonstrate qualities of independence and leadership. Salary commensurate with experience; benefits included.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in the field of speech-language pathology, and substantial experience with fluency disorders. Minimum qualifications include: M.S./M.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology, ASHA CCC-SLP, and eligibility for Maryland licensure.


Preferences

The following will be considered favorably: Clinical background in fluency disorders, as well as experience with other clinical populations; experience in clinical education and supervision at the university level.

The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences offers B.A, M.A., Au.D., and Ph.D. degrees, and is recognized as one of the top-ranked programs nation-wide (http://www.hesp.umd.edu). The Department’s Hearing & Speech Clinic has been in operation for more than 60 years and operates with approximately 5000 patient visits/year. It features hearing health care services across the lifespan within the Clinic as well as multiple outreach programs within the community.  The College Park campus is located in the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in close proximity to numerous world-renowned medical institutions and research facilities including the National Institutes of Health, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Medical Center.
