Salus University is seeking a skilled professional to fill the position of Full-Time Speech-Language Pathology Department Chair/Program Director

Primary Functions:
•Leadership and Administration of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology
•Director of Master of Sciences (MS) Degree Program in Speech-Language Pathology
•Key Liaison for the Department of Speech-Language with Administrators Leaders and Faculty within the College of Education and Rehabilitation, Salus University Leaders/Administrators, University Faculty and Staff; and Local, Regional, State, National and International Constituencies
•Chief Advocate for the sustainability and thriving of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and the College of Education and Rehabilitation at Salus University.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Collects demographic and evaluative data, analyzes data and writes timely reports (annual or as needed) to the: Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA annual report); Higher Education System (HES annual report); Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE annual report); and Salus University (quarterly and annual reports).
2. Oversees quality and quantity of service to various constituents associated with the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) including; internal constituents (SLP Department students, faculty, and staff); Salus University constituents (CER department chairs/program directors, dean and associate dean, CER faculty); other Salus University select leadership, faculty, staff and students cross academic disciplines; and external constituents (on-campus and external clinic supervisors).
3. Markets the Department and M.S. Degree graduate program in speech-language pathology by continuously upgrading the Department website, program brochures, consumer giveaways, webinars, and through community based exhibits and service activities. Interacts with Marketing and Admissions Departments as appropriate for their program marketing initiatives. Assures the SLP faculty and staff participate in marketing activities.
4. Oversees curriculum development and modifications; seeks and obtains curriculum approvals through appropriate university channels.
5. Recruits and employs teaching and clinical faculty with content expertise and appropriate credentials who can develop and implement academic and clinical coursework that adheres to standards set forth by the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) and the Council for Clinical Certification in Speech-Audiology and Language Pathology (CFCC) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
6. Implements and communicates policies and procedures pertaining to conditions and responsibilities for faculty appointments and employment as they related to the SLP program.
7. Evaluates and recommends departmental faculty for promotion and tenure and, in return, makes recommendations to the Dean of the College of Education and Rehabilitation.
8. Engages in departmental budget planning and management.
9. Participates in institutional planning and develops specific goals and objectives for the SLP program. Leads department faculty in strategic plan implementation. Reviews and updates plan on an annual basis
10. Secures or assists clinical faculty in securing, maintaining, and evaluating external clinical rotation sites for SLP students\\' placements.
11. Assists in programmatic and fiscal viability by securing intramural and extramural funding (grants and contracts).
12. Serves as coordinator and teacher of courses as required.
13. Maintains viable research and service portfolio.
14. Maximizes resources and maintains high faculty and staff morale.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Education, Skills and Experience Required:
• A minimum of five years of successful academic administration in an SLP program.
• Experience with academic accreditation, specifically through the Council of Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA).
• A broad understanding of SLP and its present and future role within a complex and dynamic health care and educational system.
• An earned doctorate in SLP or related field
• A commitment to excellence in education, research, and service.
• Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to maintain effective relationships with a variety of internal and external constituencies of the College
• Proven management and leadership skills

Other Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Funded grant work or grant writing experience
• Knowledge and expertise in the clinical practice of SLP
• Expertise in the field of SLP graduate education
• Teaching expertise and knowledge of evidence-based practice in the field of SLP
