The School of Health Technology and Management at Stony Brook University invites applicants to apply for a Director of Clinical Education at the Clinical Assistant Professor ranking in the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Department. The Clinical Assistant Professor must demonstrate a commitment, interest and competency in working with students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic and academic populations.  The faculty member will coordinate the supervision of students in the clinical portion of the program, develop clinical collaborations and experiences, provide clinical supervision, teach clinical courses, participates in the development of interdepartmental collaborations within the SHTM, participate in appropriate program, school and university committees as well as state and national service activities, prepares and presents on topics related to speech-language pathology at state and national conventions and assist the Chairperson with accreditation efforts, alumni engagement, external giving outreach and other assignments which contribute to program growth that supports diversity and inclusion. 

The Speech-Language Pathology Department at Stony Brook University offers a MS degree in SLP.  The graduate program admitted its inaugural cohort of students in Summer, 2020 and has received Candidacy for Accreditation from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. The graduate program offers three education tracks. Track I allows students to be eligible for their ASHA Certification only. Track II allows students to be eligible for their ASHA Certification and NYS TSSLD. Track III allows students to be eligible for ASHA Certification, NYS TSSLD, and Bilingual Certification in Spanish. 

Southampton Campus:

The department of Speech Language Pathology is housed on the Stony Brook Southampton Campus. Stony Brook Southampton is located on an 84-acre campus on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean and home to programs from the School of Health Technology and Management, Marine and Atmospheric Sciences, and Southampton Arts.  The School of Health Technology and Management offers graduate programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, and Applied Health Informatics.  The Speech Language Pathology Department is housed in a state of the art facility and includes a simulation center allowing students to engage in interprofessional clinical simulations and telehealth. The facility has two smart classrooms allowing for team-based learning, a large conference room, faculty offices and labs for scholarly activity, and a student workspace all with the most advanced technology. In accordance with the New York State Department of Health (DOH) order  that all hospitals and nursing homes “continuously require all covered personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.” Upon acceptance of a conditional job offer, candidates who are not already vaccinated must obtain the first dose of the vaccine  prior to your hire date and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with the vaccine protocol. Special Notes:

FLSA Exempt positions, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.  To qualify for a senior faculty appointment and/or tenure, the candidate must meet the criteria established by the School of Health Technology and Management Appointment, Promotion and Tenure committee and go through the review process.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • An Earned Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • ASHA CCC-SLP Certification.
  • New York State License/Eligibility.
  • Clinical experience for 3 years.
  • Supervisory Experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some teaching experience.
