The College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College at Boston University is seeking a dynamic clinical faculty member to lead the development and implementation of simulated learning activities in the new Sargent College Clinical Simulation Center.

The Director of Clinical Simulation provides vision and leadership for the new Simulation Center at Sargent College. The Simulation Center will provide high fidelity simulation activities utilizing standardized patients, manikins, and community partners as a component of the education of students at Sargent College in the fields of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology and Nutrition.

The Director will promote the Simulation Center as a resource for integration of human patient simulation into the healthcare professions program curricula and ensures the implementation of best practice standards for all simulation activities, including interprofessional education opportunities across programs. The Director assists in the design, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-based simulation learning experiences that promote the development of clinical reasoning and decision making. The Director will lead activities and functions of the Simulation Center to assure program goals and student learning outcomes are achieved. The Director collaborates with faculty across programs to support teaching and learning in the health professions.


  • Directs and participates in the daily operation of the Simulation Center which includes facilitation of learning experiences for all programs at Sargent College and coordination of simulation activities across programs.
  • Promotes integration of human patient simulation in health professions curricula in collaboration with faculty content experts including the development, implementation, and integration of simulation activities.
  • Develops policies and procedures for safe and effective simulation lab practices.
  • Ensures implementation of best practice standards for all simulation activities.
  • Maintains a welcoming, respectful, and safe learning environment.
  • Develops and utilizes simulation scenarios in collaboration with the faculty and subject matter experts.
  • Coordinates purchase and maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Participates in professional development activities to enhance job performance and stays current with the field of simulation technology.
  • Collaborates with faculty to facilitate faculty development opportunities and training related to the use of simulation, including alignment to accreditation standard and curricular assets
  • Fosters interdepartmental development of simulation activities.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Interprofessional Education & Practice to enhance interprofessional education through simulation activities.
  • Participates in the design and collection of evaluation data on learning outcomes for simulation activities and collaborates with faculty to disseminate findings.


The Director has a background in healthcare, experience in high-fidelity healthcare simulation and current simulation technology, evidence of technological literacy experience, and a commitment to interprofessional education.


  • Prior successful record of academic teaching and experience in simulation education
  • Knowledge of ASPE (Association of Standardized Patient Educators) and INACSL (International Nursing Association of Clinical and Simulation       Learning) educational standards
  • Commitment to student-centered and interprofessional education
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator certification
  • Eligibility for licensure as a healthcare professional

This is a full-time, 9-month appointment at the rank of Lecturer, non-tenured for a term of 3 years, renewable. Salary is commensurate with experience.
