The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Knoxville, TN invites applications for the 12-month, full-time non-tenure track position of Pediatric Language Clinic Director with qualifications equivalent to Assistant/Associate Professor (rank to be commensurate with education and credentials). Primary duties include 1) administration of an ongoing grant with Tennessee’s Early Intervention System to provide early intervention for at-risk and autistic children and their families; 2) conducting research related to autism and/or early intervention, 3) training and supervision of Pediatric Language Clinic staff, and students in the MS-SLP program.

The ideal applicant will develop a research program designed to complement the mission of the Pediatric Language Clinic in delivering early intervention to children and their families, and will maintain current TEIS funding and/or seek additional funding.

Required Qualifications:

1) An earned Doctoral Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field (PhD, EdD, etc.)

2) ASHA certification in Speech-Language Pathology with eligibility for licensure in Tennessee

3) Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of treatment for young children on the autism spectrum and their families

4) A strong record of research and/or evidence of a promising research program

5) Ability to secure and maintain ongoing state funding for the clinic, and seek additional funding to support the clinic and a research program.

6) Ability to supervise and train students and staff in clinical skills necessary for the treatment of clinic patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Administrative experience including, but not limited to, grant administration and clinic management.
