APPOINTMENT:

The Communication Disorders Program at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) in Warrensburg invites applications for a 9-month, instructional faculty position beginning in the Fall Semester (August 2021). Responsibilities include (a) teaching 12 hours of undergraduate/graduate courses per semester including clinical supervision and (b) engaging in program, school, college and discipline service. Summer teaching is possible. Opportunity for clinical directorship exists.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess an entry level degree to practice in speech-language pathology or an advanced degree in speech-language pathology. Candidates must be eligible for Missouri licensure and hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing-Association for a minimum of 9 months prior to employment.

Preferred candidates will possess experience instructing and mentoring student clinicians, experience teaching at the university level, and experience building and sustaining a clinical caseload. Candidates must also possess attention to detail, communication skills including oral, written and/or nonverbal. Knowledge of a university environment is preferred. Relations/interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 

The UCM Communication Disorders program offers a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology. The program has held accreditation since 1969 from the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Housed within the program is the Welch-Schmidt Center for Communication Disorders (WSCCD). The WSCCD provides student clinicians with on-campus diagnostic and treatment experiences involving individuals across the life span and with a wide range of communication and/or swallowing disorders at various levels of severity. On-campus clinical training is supported by specialty clinics that feature state-of-the-art materials, instruments, and facilities. Additionally, on-campus clinical training is supplemented by a variety of off-campus clinical opportunities.

The Communication Disorders Program is located in the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies’ School of Human Services. With four colleges, UCM offers 150 programs of study, including 10 pre-professional programs, 27 areas of teacher certification, and 37 graduate programs all at an affordable cost that has been applauded by the U.S. News & World Report in their America’s Top 100 Public Colleges & Universities. AREA HIGHLIGHTS

Central to western Missouri, Warrensburg invites you to experience the small-town atmosphere that offers many cultural and recreational opportunities. The Katy Trail (the country’s longest recreational rail trail at 240 miles) begins in Warrensburg, and Powell Gardens (an 835-acre botanical garden) is located about 15 minutes northwest of Warrensburg. The Missouri State Fairgrounds Historic District (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) is located about 30 minutes east in Sedalia. Also, the Lake of the Ozarks is located about 30 minutes south of Warrensburg. And for those who frequently (and infrequently) desire a faster pace, the Kansas City metropolitan area is located just 45 minutes northwest and provides a wide array of shopping, dining, and entertainment venues. Aside from the social atmosphere, Warrensburg offers low housing costs – relative to the national average – as well as the Warrensburg School District which has been awarded the highest-level accreditation from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
