Communication Sciences and Disorders (Tenure Track)

 

The Program in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City (CSD at Teachers College) is seeking a full-time faculty member to conduct a focused program of research, teach graduate courses, and participate in service. This is an academic (9-month) faculty position at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.


We are seeking candidates with a doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field who have teaching experience and evidence of an emerging or developed line of research. The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research areas complement or build upon those of our current faculty. Priority areas of expertise include but are not limited to 1) developmental child language disorders, autism, augmentative communication, 2) medical speech-language pathology, including TBI and dementia, or 3) voice and voice disorders (e.g., the singer’s voice, transgender voice, alaryngeal voice, other). As our CSD program is committed to advancing the field at all levels with respect to issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, past experiences, current activities and/or future goals related to these issues will be considered a plus, including facility in working with diverse/historically marginalized populations.


The candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience with external funding processes and have a plan or track record in applying for external funding. Experience sufficient to support teaching graduate courses in speech and language pathology is also expected. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) licensure from ASHA is preferred but not required.


Responsibilities: Teach graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, conduct and supervise research in areas of interest and expertise, and provide service to the program, department, and College.
