The Psycholinguistics, Aphasia, and Neuromodulation (PLAN) lab at New York University, directed by Dr. Adam Buchwald, has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral research associate to begin in Summer or Fall 2021. The postdoc will be involved in federally-funded research on stroke recovery in the domain of speech production. The overarching goal of the research is to optimize speech recovery in stroke survivors by combining effective behavioral treatment with non-invasive brain stimulation. The studies related to this project include behavioral and neurobiological investigations. The position entails designing and carrying out experimental studies and neurobiological analyses in stroke survivors and neurotypical speakers, as well as overseeing research assistants, analyzing data, and working with Dr. Buchwald on manuscripts and other writing. The postdoc will receive training in research as well as in professional development skills that will support advancement to the next career stage. The initial appointment will be for one year, with possible renewal for additional years. Salary will be commensurate with NIH postdoctoral funding levels. Qualifications

Required

PhD or equivalent by appointment time in communication sciences and disorders, psychology, cognitive science, linguistics, neuroscience, or a closely related field

Strong communication and organizational skills

Experience with data analysis pipelines


Strongly preferred (at least one of the following)

Experience collecting and analyzing behavioral data, fMRI, and/or DTI/DKI

Experience with speech research, including acoustic analysis

Experience with stroke research or other clinical research experience
