
Program Director of the Speech-Language Pathology Program, Assistant/Associate Professor or Professor
The position of Program Director is to provide leadership, mentoring, and administration for the B.S. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology programs. This includes the areas of academic, budgetary, accreditation, curriculum development, teaching, research and service for the program, school, college and university.
- Providing leadership for all matters related to accreditation from the Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Providing administrative duties related to budgetary, curriculum, outcomes, research and service
- Teaching 6 hours per fall and spring semester and 3 hours in the summer for the Speech-Language Pathology in the areas of expertise
- Recruiting and retaining qualified faculty and staff to meet programmatic needs
- Recruiting and retaining qualified students in the B.S. and M.S. programs
- Obtaining external and internal funding to meet programmatic goals and supporting a record of scholarship
- Maintaining a collegial relationship with administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public
- Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited university
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Hold or be eligible for the Louisiana license in Speech-Language Pathology
- Hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA
- Previous didactic and clinical teaching in a university; expertise in speech-sound disorders; fluency disorders and augmentative and alternative communication is preferred; other areas of expertise will be considered
- Previous experiences with budgetary matters and procurement of internal and external funding to support programmatic and university needs
- Prior experience as a university administrator for a B.S. and M.S. programs is preferred
