Job Summary

The position of Program Director is to provide leadership, mentoring, and administration for the B.S. and M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology programs.  This includes the areas of academic, budgetary, accreditation, curriculum development, teaching, research and service for the program, school, college and university.  

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Providing leadership for all matters related to accreditation from the Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Providing administrative duties related to budgetary, curriculum, outcomes, research and service
  • Teaching 6 hours per fall and spring semester and 3 hours in the summer for the Speech-Language Pathology in the areas of expertise
  • Recruiting and retaining qualified faculty and staff to meet programmatic needs
  • Recruiting and retaining qualified students in the B.S. and M.S. programs
  • Obtaining external and internal funding to meet programmatic goals and supporting a record of scholarship
  • Maintaining a collegial relationship with administrators, faculty, staff, students and the public


Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited university
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Hold or be eligible for the Louisiana license in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from ASHA
  • Previous didactic and clinical teaching in a university; expertise in speech-sound disorders; fluency disorders and augmentative and alternative communication is preferred; other areas of expertise will be considered
  • Previous experiences with budgetary matters and procurement of internal and external funding to support programmatic and university needs
  • Prior experience as a university administrator for a B.S. and M.S. programs is preferred
