Samford University’s School of Health Professions invites applicants interested in serving in a Christian university environment to apply for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Speech Language Pathology in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. This tenure-track faculty position is a 12-month appointment and will begin in summer or fall of 2019.
Qualified candidates will be graduates from a regionally accredited university and must hold an Ed.D. or Ph.D. in speech language pathology or speech and hearing science. Candidates must also hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence for Speech-Language Pathologists and be eligible for licensure in the state of Alabama. Preferred applicants will have prior experience teaching in an accredited MS SLP program and who have an active research interest. Candidates should have current knowledge of clinical teaching models, well-defined computer literacy skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and dedication to the success of the department, faculty, and student body as evidenced by a collegial and positive demeanor. Candidates should also have an interest in at least two of the following areas: research methods, speech and hearing science, adult speech disorders, dysphagia, and voice. A commitment to academic excellence and the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and colleagues is expected.
Academic rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications, clinical experiences, previous academic teaching experiences, and scholarship accomplishments.
The College of Health Sciences is a new and innovative initiative for Samford University.
