The School of Health Professions at UT Health- San Antonio is seeking to fill a faculty position to support the Master’s degree program in Speech-Language Pathology with medical concentration.


Position:

Assistant or Associate Professor of Speech-Language Pathology (12-month, tenure-track).

Background:

UT Health San Antonio is one of the country’s leading biomedical research universities, offering a broad range of academic programs and ample opportunities for collaborative research across many fields, including neuroscience, cancer, aging, diabetes, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and population health. The University is comprised of five schools: Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and Health Professions. The campus also hosts several renowned research and clinical institutes and centers.


The School of Health Professions at UT Health- San Antonio offers the Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MS- SLP) that is grounded on the integration of academic coursework and clinical experience with an emphasis in medical speech-language pathology. The vision of the two-year (5 semesters) program is to train and educate future medical speech-language pathologists to be exceptional critical thinkers, research-driven clinicians using the best practices, and strong leaders in the diverse communities they serve. The program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and has received candidacy for accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Qualifications:

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP), eligibility for speech-language pathology license in Texas, and a record of research and scholarship. Candidates are expected to have one or more specialties related to the adult medical population: head and neck cancer, voice disorders, dysphagia, dementia, aphasia.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with one or more desired specialties, an established record of peer-reviewed publications and research grant funding, and prior experience in teaching at the university level.

Responsibilities:

The position entails responsibilities that include teaching at graduate level courses in the area of expertise, establishing or continuing a program of extramurally-funded clinical research, directing student research, and providing service to the department, college, and community.


Salary:

Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with professional experience and qualifications.
