The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Syracuse University is recruiting a full-time tenure-track faculty member in Speech-Language Pathology at the rank of Assistant Professor. All areas of expertise will be considered, but preference will be given to a candidate with research interests in organic, neurodevelopmental, or neurodegenerative communication disorders.

POSITION: Full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in a research-oriented academic program offering BS, MS, AuD, AuD/PhD and PhD degrees. Successful candidate must demonstrate strong undergraduate and graduate level teaching skills, a research agenda, and research productivity commensurate with rank. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion; successful applicants will have experience teaching and mentoring students across a variety of diverse backgrounds. This is a full-time 8.5-month faculty position with eligibility for tenure and promotion. Compensation is nationally competitive.

QUALIFICATIONS: PhD in speech-language pathology or related area; CCC-SLP desirable. Prefer a candidate with research interests in one or more of the following areas: cognitive communication disorders, autism or other developmental disabilities, AAC, motor speech disorders, cleft palate, and/or communication disorders involving hearing loss.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Responsibilities will be to establish or continue a nationally recognized line of research, seek external research support, teach undergraduate and graduate courses in appropriate areas (e.g., adult neurogenic disorders, speech science, AAC), mentor student research projects, participate in academic advising, and serve on departmental and college committees.

THE DEPARTMENT: The Communication Sciences & Disorders Department at Syracuse University offers CAA-accredited clinical programs in Speech-Language Pathology (MS) and Audiology (AuD). The department also offers PhD programs in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, bachelor’s degree (BS) in CSD, a combined BS/MS in in Speech-Language Pathology, and a dual AuD/PhD degree. Several CSD faculty teach courses that are included in the Neuroscience Integrated Learning Major. The department maintains an excellent, highly visible on-campus speech-language­ hearing clinic serving a variety of clients from the Greater Syracuse community. Many of our departmental faculty have appointments and maintain strong collaborations with neighboring institutions, including the SUNY Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital, and the Syracuse Veterans Administration Medical Center.
