Hofstra University’s Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences seeks to fill an opening for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position in Audiology. Hofstra University, in cooperation with Adelphi and St. John's Universities, offers a professional doctorate in audiology (AuD) through the Long Island Doctor of Audiology Consortium program. The Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at Hofstra University is housed within the School of Health Professions and Human Services, which includes the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, located in the Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center. The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic offers diagnostic and treatment services to children and adults for a variety of communication disorders, including audiological evaluations and screenings, hearing aid evaluations, hearing aid fitting and dispensing, central auditory processing evaluations, and aural rehabilitation services.


Responsibilities of the position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. The course load consists of 9 semester hours (3 courses) of teaching per semester. Additional responsibilities include research in the applicant’s area of interest, student advisement, and involvement in Department, School, and University committees.


The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching and/or service will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.


Requirements include an earned doctorate (Ph.D. preferred) in audiology, hearing science, or related discipline. ASHA certification is preferred but not required. This is a nine-month tenure track position beginning in the Fall of 2021.
