Department of Speech-Language Pathology – Tenure Track, Open Rank Faculty Position

Sacred Heart University, in Fairfield, Connecticut, is the second-largest Catholic university in New England. The College of Health Professions at Sacred Heart University invites applications for the position of full time, tenure-track, open rank Professor available August 2020 in the Department of Communication Disorders. In the new Center for Healthcare Education, the individual in this position will have responsibility for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders. Additional responsibilities will include clinical supervision, course and curriculum development, student recruitment and advisement, program evaluation, and University service and scholarship. The credit load for the position is 24 credits distributed over 10 months and the faculty member will report to the Chair of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology.


Requirements:

  • Earned Doctorate (ABD considered) in Communication Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology), or related field.
  • Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Communication Disorders.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability/interest in teaching areas involving child language disorders, including Autism, School-based SLP practice, and early intervention.
  • The ability/interest to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of child speech and language development and disorders, speech science, anatomy and physiology of speech, hearing, and swallowing, neuroanatomy and physiology, clinical methods.
  • Eligibility for a Connecticut Department of Health License in SLP.
  • Interest/experience in clinical supervision of graduate students.

Our program employs innovative teaching techniques including problem-based learning, inverse teaching, simulation, and service learning.
