Position Description: The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking 3, twelve-month Visiting Instructors of Audiology. 2 positions are clinical and 1 position is teaching.

The 2 visiting clinical instructor positions include providing clinical and/or academic instruction such as supervision to Doctor of Audiology students in clinical practice in a university-based, billing clinic and/or developing and teaching graduate and undergraduate courses with a focus in Audiology. Additional responsibilities also include providing service to the university through faculty governance at the department, college, and/or university level and providing service outside the university to the community and/or profession. The applicant must be licensed to practice in Florida (or have applied for that licensing) before the position start date. The anticipated start date for these positions is July 01, 2021.

MINIMUM:

  • Clinical Doctorate Degree or PhD degree in Audiology/related field
  • Eligible for Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC-A)
  • Licensure or eligible for License for Florida Audiology License
  • Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor

PREFERRED:

  • At least five years’ experience in the field
  • At least three years’ experience precepting Audiology students
  • Clinical experience in one or more of the following areas…
    • Pediatrics: Diagnostics (electrophysiology, auditory processing disorders) and Treatment (hearing aids, implants, assistive listening devices)
    • Experience with both Implants (Cochlear, Osseointegrated, Bone) and Amplification.
    • Advanced diagnostics and treatment of individuals with hearing loss and balance disorders.
  • Teaching experience in a Doctor of Audiology program at an accredited University
  • Eligible for Medicare and Medicaid provider numbers and Early Steps provider status

The 1 visiting teaching instructor position includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses primarily in areas related to audiology and hearing sciences, using in-person and online delivery. Graduate level clinical instruction may also be available such as supervision to Doctor of Audiology students in clinical practice in a university-based, billing clinic. Additional responsibilities include providing service to the university through faculty governance at the department, college, and/or university level and providing service outside the university to the community and/or profession. The position will begin August 9, 2021. This position is open until filled but the review of applications will begin May 10, 2021.

  • Au.D. or Ph.D. in Audiology, Hearing Science, or related field
  • Meets university criteria for appointment to the rank of Instructor

PREFERRED:

  • Ph.D. in Audiology, Hearing Science, or related field
  • More than 5 years of experience in Audiology, Hearing Science, or related field
  • Three or more years of experience teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level in an academic department with focus on audiology and hearing sciences
  • Experience with both in-person and online delivery formats
  • Interest in potential for research and intradepartmental collaboration
  • Eligible for CCC-A or Florida State Licensure in Audiology
  • Experience supervising AuD students

Since 1967, the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders has been training future speech-language pathologists and audiologists, providing speech and hearing services to the Tampa Bay community. The Department trains future professionals and serves the Tampa Bay community through the USF Hearing Clinic, USF Speech-Language Clinic, Bolesta Center at USF (Listening and Spoken Language Center), Hands On USF (sign language interpreting service), and the Global Center for Hearing and Speech Research.
