This webinar will first briefly review the historical and current uses of Standardized Patients (SPs) in Communication Sciences and Disorders. This will be followed by an overview of best practices in the development and use of SPs, per guidelines from the Association of Standardized Patient Educators (ASPE). These best practices will be illustrated with case examples across both face-to-face and remote delivery. Ideas for future implementation of SPs, alone or in conjunction with other simulation modalities, will be discussed.

His clinical, research and teaching activities are in the areas of voice disorders, clinical skills training, healthcare simulation, and health communication. He is a Certified Health Simulation Educator. He is also an ASHA Fellow.
