WEBINAR: Critical Thinking and Counseling: Happy Together

Critical thinking (CT) is a crucial component of healthcare, and its importance has been recognized in training medical professionals. Likewise, counseling skills are recognized as essential for all healthcare providers, particularly those whose role includes a therapeutic component. Health education accreditation standards encourage teaching, incorporating, and assessing both CT and counseling skills. In this session, we will define CT and counseling, discuss the relationship between CT and counseling, measurements for assessing CT and counseling skills, and describe didactic and clinical activities to promote CT and counseling in graduate programs for students in CSD programs. Data from a longitudinal study of CT skills for entering graduate CSD students and the trajectory of the positive changes in CT skills as they matriculated through the program.
