The footprint of online learning continues to expand, offering flexibility and variety to an increasingly diverse student body (e.g., non-traditional, minority, etc.). Research suggests that the academic performance of diverse groups in virtual environments is tied to how well educators recognize,value, and respect sociocultural differences (Yeboah & Smith, 2016). This interactive session defines key terminology and frameworks related to diversity, equity, and social justice associated with online learning. It also shares practical examples of ways to integrate these concepts into online instruction.
