The COVID-19 pandemic revealed significant accessibility barriers for students with disabilities enrolled in online and hybrid courses. As the footprint of online education expands, it essential that faculty and staff learn to develop courses with accessibility in mind. This session will provide participants a background of digital accessibility and key legislation governing it within the context of higher education. It will also showcase a myriad of practical course development practices that can be employed when developing instructional material in digital formats. The session will conclude by sharing common tools for authoring accessible digital content and checkers for reviewing legacy content for accessibility barriers.
