In May 2021 ASHA’s hosted an on-line conference entitled, Teaching Symposium on Foundational CSD Science Courses. There were three speakers representing the foundational sciences: hearing science (Dhar), speech science (Storey), and lscience (Schuele). In her presentation, Dr. Schuele noted that a dedicated undergraduate course in language science is not routine requirement (or even recommended course) across CSD programs. Since the conference in 2021, Drs. Schuele and Brimo have gathered information from chairs, program directors, and faculty about the need for dedicated coursework and information to plan a language science syllabus. In this webinar, we will report on data gathered from attendees who attended the Teaching Language Science Symposium hosted by Vanderbilt University Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences in 2023 and from graduate students enrolled in speech-language pathology programs.
