Assistant/Associate Faculty Position in Child Language
The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications to fill a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Child Language beginning in Fall 2025. The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences is housed within the Moody College of Communication, which was ranked #4 in the QS World University Rankings in 2023.
The Department and Moody College provide substantial resources to support an environment that is highly conducive to conducting research. Faculty have access to pre-and post-award external funding support and have opportunities to join the vibrant research center and institute culture in Moody College. The Department faculty members serve as Principal Investigators on multiple NIH R01 and other federal research and training grants. The Department has approximately 360 undergraduate students and more than 100 graduate students, including 21 PhD students, and operates an on-site speech and hearing clinic that provides student training and clinical services. The Department is CAA-accredited, offers programs leading to BS, MS, AuD, and Ph.D. degrees, and has top-ranked academic programs in speech, language, and hearing sciences. The Department seeks productive scholars whose research focuses on child language development and/or child language disorders and treatment. Candidates will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate speech-language pathology (SLP) courses, mentoring graduate students, and serving the Department, College, University, profession, and community.
The tenure-track faculty position may be offered at the assistant or associate level, depending on a candidate’s experience and qualifications. A tenured, associate-level position could be offered to an outstanding candidate with current external research funding.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in speech-language pathology or a related area at the time of appointment and preferably have a clinical certification in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). At the assistant professor level, candidates must have a promising program of research and publication, a commitment to teaching, and an interest in student mentorship. At the associate level, candidates must have a distinguished record of research and teaching and a strong history of external research funding, preferably current funding.
