
Assistant / Associate / Full Professor -- Speech-Language Pathology
The Department of Communication Disorders & Sciences (CDS) in the College of Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding individual with expertise in the area of acquired speech disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, or school-age language disorders, who will exemplify the RUSH mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with RUSH policies and procedures, to join the faculty in speech-language pathology at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. This tenure-track position provides excellent opportunities for teaching, research, and scholarship.
Qualifications for the position include a Ph.D. degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Speech and Hearing Sciences and evidence of teaching and research potential. Candidates should possess the CCC-SLP and be eligible for Illinois licensure in speech-language pathology. Clinical and research expertise in dysarthria, apraxia of speech, augmentative and alternative communication, and/or school-age language disorders is desired. Past experience of teaching at undergraduate or graduate level is preferred.
The RUSH environment facilitates collaboration with colleagues in audiology, otolaryngology, neurology, pediatrics, psychology, plastic surgery, and many other specialties. CDS faculty members are known nationally and internationally for their work in their particular areas of expertise.
HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
RUSH University Medical Center (RUMC) is a tertiary academic medical center located in the Illinois Medical District (IMD) on the near west side of Chicago. The IMD is the largest urban medical district in the United States. RUMC encompasses a 664-bed hospital serving adults and children, including the Johnston R. Bowman Health Center, which provides medical and rehabilitative care to older adults and people with short- and long-term disabilities. It also includes RUSH's 376-bed Tower hospital building and the newly opened Joan and Paul Rubschlager Building, a destination for state-of-the-art outpatient care. The Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Clinics of Rush offer state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for the evaluation and management of individuals with communication (speech, language, and hearing) and swallowing problems and for clinical training.
