Lehman College of the City University of New York invites applications for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track Assistant professor tenured or tenure-track or an Associate professor tenured or tenure-track position in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences. Applicants must hold an earned Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders or a relateddiscipline, andpreferably hold ASHA CCC-SLP and be eligible for NYS licensure. The successful candidate must have an active record of scholarship and a strong commitment to teaching communication sciences and disorders at the undergraduate and graduate levels to culturally and linguistically diverse students.

The Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences enrolls an average of 350 undergraduate and 100-125 graduate students each year. The teaching load is 18 credit hours over a 9-month appointment. Opportunities exist to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate clinicians, and collaborate with other CUNY faculty in research. Service to the college, university and community is part of the mission as is a clear commitment to student engagement including advisement. Teaching is reduced for junior faculty over the first five years for scholarly development and all faculty are actively encouraged to seek external funding. Opportunities are available for faculty development and travel awards. Lehman College and CUNY internal funding is available through competitive grants for scholarship and professional development support.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Communication Disorders and Sciences or an equivalent.
Evidence of an established or developing scholarly agenda.
The ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
Evidence of a successful record of college-level teaching experience in online, hybrid and/or in-person modalities
Clinical experience in speech-language pathology and/or audiology as well as in supervision
Experience advising undergraduate students and supervising practicum work and external placements
Clinical or teaching experience with linguistically and culturally diverse populations
Expertise in neuroscience, speech science, articulation and phonology, fluency, audiology, dysphagia, hard of hearing, or alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is a plus.
Bilingual is a desirable skill for the position.

Assistant Professor $95,879 - $105,593

Associate Professor $114,353 - $124,979
