Position Duties
THE DEPARTMENT OF SPEECH-LANGUAGE-HEARING SCIENCES AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND invites applications for a 4/5th, 12-month, non-tenure track assistant clinical professor specializing in clinical services for a pediatric population, for academic year 2025-26. The person hired will teach/supervise the equivalent of 8 courses over a 12-month calendar year (fall, spring, summer semesters) specific to pediatric clients with communication disorders through the Loyola Clinical Centers (LCC). The LCC offers affordable, quality services in the areas of psychology, literacy, hearing, speech, and language to underserved members of the greater Baltimore community and provides hands-on clinical training to Loyola graduate students in their respective Divisions. This position is 80% teaching and 20% service with no research expectations. Clinical Faculty in the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences (SLHS) are responsible for clinical programming, direct clinical supervision of primarily first-year graduate students, and the implementation of evidence-based practice in student training. This role supports the department’s mission to deliver exceptional clinical education and client-centered care in alignment with the Standards for Accreditation of Graduate Education Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. This in-person, non-tenure track role is integral to the clinical education and development of first-year graduate students in the Master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology.

Specifically, the teaching aspect is 80% of this position and requires the faculty to: (a) supervise and train graduate students in the delivery of evidence-based speech-language pathology services; (b) develop and maintain a diverse caseload of clients for diagnostic and treatment services; (c) maintain compliance with departmental workload standards and expectations for client caseload; (d) provide direct supervision and timely written feedback on student performance; (e) organize and lead weekly clinical teaching activities/trainings; (f) collaborate with other clinical faculty to design, implement, and maintain specialized clinical programs as appropriate; (g) organize and lead/co-lead student clinical orientation across all semesters of clinical teaching; (h) provide intensive clinical instruction during the summer semester (i.e., Clinical Internship 3) which approximates and prepares students for externship placements; (i) serve as a clinical resource and mentor to first-year graduate students, modeling professional behavior and ethical clinical practice; (j) participate in interdisciplinary teams working with Psychology and Audiology faculty and (j) lead monthly focus groups with their student cohort on topics related to culturally sustaining clinical practice in accordance with CAA standard 3B.
The service component of the position (20%) is primarily focused on the department and, when appropriate or desired, the university, in alignment with SLHS department expectations. Clinical faculty actively contribute to program development specific to their area of clinical practice and expertise, and support student recruitment and admissions, as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be able to guide speech-language pathology graduate students and teach them the clinical skills necessary for successful practice in their field specific to a pediatric population (through adolescence). The person hired for this position will be expected to supervise in the LCC and some off-site placements, typically, 3 or 4 days/week per semester depending on the semester and the program’s needs. The successful candidate must also be able to hold dedicated office hours and participate in additional department service. Salary range: $58,500 - $60,000
Required Qualifications: (1) Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program; (2) Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA); (3) Eligibility for MD state licensure to practice speech-language pathology; (4) Minimum of 3 years full-time (or its equivalent) clinical experience as a practicing speech-language pathologist; (5) Completed a minimum of 2 hours of professional development in the area of supervision/clinical instruction as noted in ASHA’s Professional Development Requirements for the 2020 Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Certification Standards; (6) Evidence of the knowledge and skills outlined by ASHA necessary for effective clinical supervision; (7) Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; (8) Ability to contribute to the Jesuit educational mission of the department and university.
Preferred Qualifications: (1) Experience developing or managing specialty clinical programs; (2) Experience working with pediatric clients with voice and/or fluency disorders; (3) Prior academic or clinical teaching experience at the graduate level; (4) Familiarity with accreditation standards (e.g., CAA, ASHA) and clinical education best practices; (5) Bilingual or multilingual skills.
