
Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Communication Disorders Program
The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 12-month visiting faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor rank in the Communication Disorders Program in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning July 1, 2025. This is an opportunity to join a group of engaged faculty in an established undergraduate and graduate Communication Disorders program.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
As a faculty member, this position includes teaching, academic advising, research, mentoring responsibilities, scholarship, and service to the program/University. Preference given to applicants with a background serving a diverse student background with special interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Mercy University is a nonsectarian, nonprofit New York metropolitan area institution offering over 90 undergraduate and graduate programs. The University has an enrollment of approximately 9000 students from diverse backgrounds across four campuses in Westchester County and New York City. Salary and rank are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience:
- Excellent administrative and organizational skills; exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a dynamic team in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Prior teaching experience in a Communication Disorders/Speech-Language Pathology Program
- Innovative use of educational technology
- ASHA CCC-SLP certification and licensure or eligibility for SLP licensure in New York State
- Earned Doctoral Degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field
- Experience in teaching, research, inter-professional education and incorporating technology into teaching and professional practice is highly desirable
- Experience teaching a diverse student body
- Potential Course offerings include: Neuroanatomy, Research Methods and Design, Bilingualism, Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech Mechanism.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a clinically practicing SLP
- Experience as a clinically practicing SLP
- Experience facilitating diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- Earned Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in SLP or a related field. ABD may be considered
- Eligibility for New York SLP licensure
- Earned CCC-SLP licensure
