The Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services at Utah State University invites applicants for three tenure-track faculty positions (Assistant or Associate Professor) as part of a new college initiative focused on Technology Enhanced Health and Wellness. 

Appointments may be made in any of the eight departments within the college: Human Development and Family Studies, Instructional Technology and Learning Sciences, Kinesiology and Health Science, Nursing, Psychology, School of Teacher Education and Leadership, Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling, and Speech and Hearing Sciences


This forward-looking interdisciplinary initiative, developed in partnership with USU’s College of Engineering, brings together faculty and students to address complex health challenges through the innovative application of technology and engineering principles. Our vision is to transform health and human services by advancing technologies that promote accessibility, efficiency, and personalized care. Areas of research emphasis include, but are not limited to, biomedical devices, assistive technologies, digital therapeutics, wearable technologies, remote health monitoring and delivery, health applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning, and data-driven precision medicine.  


Successful candidates will join a vibrant community of researchers committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and high-impact scholarship. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record or clear potential for collaborative, externally funded research that advances technology’s role in improving health and human services. Candidates must have a disciplinary background that aligns with one of the departments within the College of Education and Human Services.


The positions are full-time, 9-month academic year appointments located on USU’s main campus in Logan, UT and are not eligible for remote work. Start date for the positions will be August 1, 2026. Review of applications will begin January 5, 2026, and continue until the positions are filled.


Position Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and sustain a productive research program focused on technology in health and wellness, including disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications in leading journals.
  2. Actively pursue external funding to support research activities through sources such as government agencies, private foundations, and regional and local agencies, among others.
  3. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration with faculty across the College of Education and Human Services and the College of Engineering on research projects related to technology-enhanced healthcare delivery and wellness.
  4. Teach graduate and/or undergraduate classes aligned with areas of expertise, specialization, and department needs.
  5. Mentor graduate students conducting research at the intersections of technology, health, and wellness.
  6. Contribute service to the department, college, university, and professional communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in a discipline represented within one of the academic departments in the College of Education and Human Services, completed by August 2026. Applicants who are ABD will be considered at the Instructor level with a documented plan for timely degree completion.
  2. Research program related to the interface of technology, health, and wellness.
  3. Demonstrated ability to conduct and disseminate research that has potential to secure external funding.
  4. Evidence of effectiveness in and/or strong potential for teaching and mentoring students in disciplines within the College of Education and Human Services.
  5. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in team-based settings.

Additional Minimum Qualifications to be appointed at the Associate Professor level:

  • Prior employment in a research-focused position in an academic, industry, or government setting.
  • Established record of research productivity and impact within one’s field.
  • Demonstrated success in securing external funding to support a sustained research program.
  • Documented effectiveness in teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior engagement in interdisciplinary research that bridges fields related to technology and healthcare.
  • Record of success in obtaining extramural funding to support research, graduate students, and scholarly activities.
