The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the School of Applied Sciences at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in August 2026. We seek candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: child or adolescent, language, literacy, developmental disabilities, speech sound disorders, phonology, or complex communication is preferred, but all areas of specialization are encouraged to apply.


Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in communication sciences and disorders or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  • Eligibility for Mississippi state licensure

The successful candidate will develop and sustain a line of research that contributes to scientific advancement in an area related to their expertise, actively pursue external funding for research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face, online, and/or blended), direct student research, and engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service.


The CSD Department has a team of 19 faculty and staff and over 350 students (https://csd.olemiss.edu/). CSD currently offers Bachelor of Science and Master of Science programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The Master of Science program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
